What is the verb for wanderlust? Everytime I tell people I like going to the airport, they ask why and I hesitate to respond because I don't know the verb for wanderlust. If the verb for wanderlust is in fact wanderlust, then I like going to the airport to people-watch and wanderlust. People-watch at people of all ages and races and religions; observe the clothes they wear, the languages they speak, the way they act to people and things around them (heh heh I swear I'm a total social science person). Wanderlust while watching those departure/arrival boards which list all the various places I would love to travel to, imagine what it would be like in these places, pretend I am one of those tourists around me, pretend that I am wandering and getting lost through gorgeous cobble-stoned streets surrounded by gorgeous architecture in the streets of Europe; or wandering through the colourful streets and markets of India or the Middle East, surrounded by unfamiliar people shouting in unfamiliar languages, the smell of spices so strong I feel completely intoxicated; or exploring ancient temples in Southeast Asia and pretending that I'm an anthropologist or archaeologist studying the Buddhist religion.

If the verb for wanderlust is indeed wanderlust, right now I am listening to Carla Bruni and wanderlusting about Paris with its gorgeous streets and people and cafes and churches. With the wonder of the Eiffel Tower visible everywhere I go, with people speaking in the beautiful French language everywhere I go. Visiting the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and its gorgeous pieces, other museums where I get to learn French history, the Notre Dame where I get to attend mass in a completely different manner. SOMEDAY I will go to Paris and fulfil my wanderlust for Paris. Also Montmartre where I will meet fellow hippies and maybe even join the bohemian movement.

I guess what both Ho Kit and Victoria pointed out to me, at completely different times since they don't know each other, is true: I am quite dreamy. New word to describe me! In addition to being sentimental. I think in these aspects, I'm a lot like my dad. I swear I get my hippie tendencies and history geekiness from him. Also all the idealism and dreams.

Anyway, I really really really miss studying. Because studying gives me a sense of purpose, like I'm actually doing productive and fulfilling things in my life. As opposed to how I'm just bumming around everyday right now and slowly losing whatever intelligence I even had for the past few years when I was still studying. Also because I really just like learning about things and people. I miss studying History and GP, also Lit in some ways. And with this said I'm really looking forward to studying things that I'll love in uni. Minus the whole social side to uni (cos y'all know how socially awkward I am), I'm really looking forward to uni where I'll be able to dabble in subjects/modules I like. Of course this is totally assuming that I get into FASS. Also totally assuming that I'll get my choice modules in Soci, History and SEA. On a side note, I really really really hate the history syllabus in Singapore. Especially the syllabuses I hafta go through. Seriously hate the Cold War and China's rise and Japan's rise and other political/military/economic history shit. I don't get how that's history???? My sisters' time was way better cos they got to learn European history. Come 2014, the JC history syllabus will be way better cos they get to learn about Religion & Politics and also cultures for SEA. That's real history okay, the type of history that I wanna learn. Not the freaking Cold War which I had to endure in IJ and AC and hafta endure in uni again ugh. So freaking annoyed with the education system in Singapore, which has no place for history or anthro or archaeology, the precise subjects I wanna study. All I can do now is hope I'll be able to do a Masters in Anthro or something. Anyway, with everything said above, I'm quite glad that FASS has religious studies as a minor, I totally see myself doing either that or SEA! Yes I'm a geek, so sue me, and I really want uni to start so that I can start learning again. Especially about things I'm interested in. Times like these I really wish there was a fast-forward button in life where I can just fast-forward to uni right now and skip all this aimless bumming around for the next few months.

PS. I think "wanderlust" is the most beautiful word ever. Even though there's no verb for it and there's no other synonym or word like it. Maybe because there's no verb for it and there's no other synonym or word like it. But mainly because it's the word I feel the most. Because I'm always wanderlust-ing. Because I'm always wandering and lusting. Because I'm always lusting about wandering. Also the word is so dreamy, it's like my twin sister.

And it is true what you said, that I live like a hermit in my own head.
